Hawaiian Bassendean
A dynamic and evolving eco-placemaking project nested in the commercial setting of Hawaiian shopping centre in Bassendean.
In 2018 as a partnership with the Hawaiian Group and the Town of Bassendean, The Forever Project designed and installed this innovative project at the upgraded Bassendean Shopping Centre.
The project featured over 3 tonnes of suspended recycled metal art, 5 tonnes of recycled rubble in innovative alcove seating along with a range of hanging plants and trees creating a funky space for community gatherings and musical activities.
Hawaiian Centre Management have reported the project feature has had the desired effect of reducing antisocial behaviour and turning the once dead space into a meaningful and valued community site.
